StarHub Might Be Firing 300 People But Singtel Is Hiring 300 More

Singtel And M1 Looking To Hire New Employees To Join Their Team

StarHub, one of the three major telcos in Singapore, announced on Wednesday that it would be dismissing 300 full-time employees by the end of October.

The retrenchments are part of its efforts to raise productivity.

Although staff may be temporarily demoralised, we have news that might cheer them up.

StarHub’s 2 biggest rivals, Singtel and M1, are offering more than 300 jobs between them!

Over 300 job openings in Singtel

We did a quick check across Singtel and M1’s websites and found out that there are plenty of positions available.

In fact, it appears that Singtel is on a hiring spree. As of 4 Oct, there are 319 job openings at the telco.

Positions available range across different departments, including the customer service, creative, tech, operations, marketing and finance teams.

Those with related experience will have an edge over candidates–and if you worked at StarHub, could you have any more relevant work experience?

As Asia’s leading communications group, Singtel believes that teamwork, the spirit to take on challenges and personal excellence define the way they work.

40 positions available in M1

Fellow telco M1 appears to be more muted with its hiring, but still boasts 40 job vacancies.

For those who specialise in corporate sales and information system, you are in luck, as your area of expertise is likely sought after here.

Glassdoor reviews show that M1 is big on creating that family bond between employees. They see themselves as a family that thrives on creativity and challenges.

Sounds like an ideal workplace to us.

Brighter prospects for retrenched staff

The Singapore Industrial and Services Employees’ Unions (SISEU) is helping affected workers find new jobs. But with these listings, maybe their job won’t be that hard after all.

We wish all affected staff, as well as their families, all the best in their job hunt and future endeavours.
