Sun Xueling says residents raised children’s mental health, substance abuse concerns at MPS
Punggol GRC MP Sun Xueling said residents raised concerns about their children’s mental health and substance abuse during a Meet the People Session (MPS) on Monday (24 Aug).
In a Facebook post following the session, she said that she would work with other agencies to find support for those children.

Ms Sun said she was “saddened” to hear from parents struggling with such issues.
She assured that she would work with the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) and Health Sciences Authority (HSA) to find support for the affected children.
“We will tie up with IMH and HSA to find support for the children,” she wrote.

Residents also seek help with housing
Ms Sun said some residents also approached her with housing-related concerns, and that her team would advise residents on the processes involved.
Earlier on Monday, Ms Sun also shared details of housing announcements from the National Day Rally (NDR) that occurred on Sunday (23 Aug).
She noted that the Government would raise the monthly household income ceiling for subsidised public housing.
The ceiling for Build-To-Order (BTO) flats will increase from S$14,000 to S$16,000, while the ceiling for Executive Condominiums (ECs) will rise from S$16,000 to S$18,000.

First-timer families will also receive one additional ballot chance for every child they have or are expecting when applying for a new flat.
Ms Sun said the measures aim to ensure that the “vast majority of Singaporean couples” can continue to access subsidised public housing.
