More than 530,000 visitors to Singapore in the first two months of 2024 were from China
In the first two months of this year, Singapore received more than half a million visitors from China.
Among the different places of residence, Mainland Chinese tourists made up the highest number of visitor arrivals to Singapore.
In second place was Indonesia, with more than 459,000 visitors coming to Singapore.
The data was published in the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) Visitor Arrivals statistics.
More Mainland Chinese tourists visited in 2024 compared to 2023
There were a total of 538,160 visitors from China for the months of January and February.
The figure is a 745% increase compared to the same period in 2023, when there were 63,690 Mainland Chinese visitors.
This comes in the wake of an announcement earlier this year, in which Singapore and China had agreed to allow their passport holders to travel visa-free between each other’s territories from 9 February.
Citizens from either country will be able to stay in the other country for up to 30 days.

These citizens can travel for the purposes of tourism, social visits and business, among others.
Prior to the initiative, China citizens needed to apply for a visa before entering Singapore. Meanwhile, Singapore citizens were capped by a 15-day limit if they visited China without a visa.
Highest amount of visitors to Singapore were from China
There were a total of 2.87 million visitors to the island in the months of January and February, according to STB. The average length of days for all visitors was 3.46 days.

While the highest number of visitors came from China, Indonesia visitors were a close second, with 459,730 arrivals to Singapore.
This is followed by Australia, which saw 203,720 visitors coming to Singapore, and Malaysia, which contributed 193,590 visitors.
During this period, Mainland Chinese tourists stayed in Singapore for an average of 4.05 days, compared to 2.91 days for Indonesian tourists.
