Woman set on fire at lottery shop in Kuala Lumpur
A 62-year-old woman suffered burns to about half of her body after an unidentified man allegedly poured a petrol-like liquid on her and set her on fire at a lottery shop in Taman Pusat Kepong, Kuala Lumpur.
The attack happened on Sunday (9 Aug) morning, with police receiving a distress call at around 8am.
Victim in critical but stable condition
Sentul acting district police chief Superintendent Jasni Zolpa said the victim, a counter attendant at the outlet, was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital after suffering burns to around 50% of her body.

Local police said the woman was in critical but stable condition.
“Initial investigations found that the victim had no known enemies and had not received any threats previously,” Superintendent Jasni said in a statement.
Police have not determined the motive behind the attack.
Suspect remains at large
The Kuala Lumpur police forensic team visited the scene and collected DNA samples and other evidence to assist investigations.
A special operation has also been launched to track down the suspect.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous means.
Local police urged anyone with information to contact investigating officer Inspector Muhammad Amri Firdaus Jusoh at 010-9198209 or any nearby police station.
MP announces S$1,500 reward for information
Kepong Member of Parliament (MP) Lim Lip Eng has offered a RM5,000 (about S$1,500) reward for information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.

He described the attack as “an act of shocking cruelty” and urged authorities to bring the attacker to justice.
“The person responsible must be found, arrested and made to face the full force of the law,” he said.
Lim also warned members of the public not to approach or confront the suspect themselves.
