Mental health struggles can take many forms, some of them more extreme than others.

Recently, a woman in Tanah Merah was arrested under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008 after tossing household objects from her unit.

She flung a variety of items from clothes to baskets and even a suitcase. The outburst lasted for an hour.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) arrived on the scene, with officers even setting up an inflatable air pack as a precaution.

According to 8world News, a 49-year-old woman threw the objects out of her house for over an hour.

The incident took place at the Casa Merah condominium in Tanah Merah, at around noon on 22 Oct.

A video uploaded to TikTok by a neighbour showed a large array of items scattered across a footpath and the grass around it.

According to Shin Min Daily News, neighbours alleged that the woman’s mental health struggles previously got the police involved as well. However, this particular situation proved the most serious.

Police later arrested the woman under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008 for her reckless behaviour that endangered others.

We sincerely hope that the woman gets the help she needs.

Last month, a man suspected of being mentally unwell wore the Singapore flag as a cape and declared himself God at a Hougang kopitiam.
