You Can Recycle Used Angbaos By Dropping Them Off At Waterway Point Recycling Bins From 6-12 Feb

Recycle Your Used Angbaos At Geneco’s Pop-Up Booth In Waterway Point

Receiving angbaos is always a happy occasion. But what do you do with the empty packets after?

With their beautiful designs, tossing them into the trash seems like a waste.

Suppose you are sitting on a pile of used, empty red packets. In that case, you can make your way to Waterway Point in Punggol in the next few days, as electricity retailer Geneco will collect them as part of their #GreenForProsperity Chinese New Year campaign.

You can look for Geneco’s red packet recycling bins at their pop-up booth in the mall, which will run from 6 to 12 Feb.

Recycle angbaos with Geneco & Tay Paper Recycling

Geneco said in a press release that they have firm plans to ensure these collected angbaos are sustainably recycled.

As such, they are collaborating with Tay Paper Recycling, which will convert the collected red packets into fibre and pulp.

Different paper products will then be formed with the pulp derived, ensuring that these angbaos are meaningfully repurposed.

Contribute to Singapore’s biodiversity conservation efforts by pressing a button

Geneco said the pop-up booth would also include a station where Singaporeans can pledge their commitment to spreading awareness for the conservation of Singapore’s biodiversity by simply pressing a ‘pledge button’.

Each time someone presses the button, it will increase the digital counter at the booth.

With the support of the pledges, Geneco will donate S$10,000 to NPark’s Biodiversity Conservation Efforts.

Red packet recycling bins available islandwide till 31 Mar

If you can’t make it to Waterway Point during the pop-up period, you will have more opportunities to do so. The recycling bins can be found at 30 other locations across Singapore.

These bins have been up since 3 Jan and will continue to be at participating locations until 31 Mar.
