21-year-old woman stabbed during store robbery in Malaysia

A 21-year-old female supervisor was brutally stabbed multiple times by a suspected robber at a beverage and ice cream store in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, Malaysia on Monday (12 Aug).

The incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place around 11.25am, according to a report by The Rakyat Post.

Photos and videos of the attack were shared by @mynewshub on X the following day and have since garnered 1.8 million views.

Woman stabbed at least 8 times in the stomach

The video shows the young woman working in the store’s kitchen when a masked man approaches her with what appears to be a knife.

Caught off guard, the victim tries to fight back and escape but ends up getting repeatedly stabbed.

Initial reports shared by @mynewshub revealed that the woman suffered severe injuries, with at least eight stab wounds to her stomach.

The victim also had RM4,000 (S$1,190) in her, which the attacker attempted to steal.

Fortunately, neither the victim nor the store incurred any losses after the botched robbery, according to The Rakyat Post.

The victim was taken to Shah Alam Hospital, where she received treatment and was discharged the following day at 1am.

Police are currently locating the suspect

Shah Alam District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim stated that a clear image of the suspect’s face was caught on CCTV, and intensive efforts are underway to locate and arrest him.

He also mentioned that the victim was alone at the time of the attack, and the police received a report from the victim’s brother at 11.40am that day.

The district police chief added that if convicted, the suspect could face up to 20 years in prison, along with a fine or whipping.

The public is also urged to come forward with information that can help with the investigation.

As the perpetrator is believed to be a foreign national, the incident reignited the debate about foreign workers in Malaysia and the potential challenges they pose, The Rakyat Post stated.
