Father passes away in HDB after failing to send son ‘good morning picture’ for 3 days
The son of a father who lived alone in an HDB unit in Tampines noticed that his dad had failed to send his usual “good morning pictures” for three days, causing him and his family to worry.
When a friend visited the father to have their usual dinner and chat at around 2pm on Sunday (24 Nov), the 62-year-old man was found dead inside his home at 499C Tampines Avenue 9.
The friend immediately alerted the police, and several police cars and ambulances arrived at the HDB block, a witness told Shin Min Daily News.

Sons usually visit father on weekends
Following the discovery, the deceased’s son also arrived at the HDB unit to check on the situation.
It is understood that the father’s two sons usually visit him on the weekends while a maid comes by to clean the house.

The father would also send his son a “good morning picture” every day to inform him that he was well, but his son revealed that he had not received such texts since Thursday.
The sons had planned to visit their father on Sunday afternoon but were met with unfortunate news from the police before they could come to visit.
According to neighbours, the man used to live with his mother in the same unit.
However, when she passed away, he continued to live there by himself.
Father kept door unlocked due to health condition
According to Shin Min Daily News, the father passed away in his sleep.
As he had previously suffered a stroke, he kept his door unlocked so others could check on his situation should anything happen.
The Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) told MS News that it had received a call for assistance at around 12.40pm on 24 Nov.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene by an SCDF paramedic.
