Man with knife refused to open the door during drug raid, forced entry conducted
During a drug raid conducted on Friday (29 Nov), officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) encountered a 60-year-old man with a knife.
After subduing him, about 2.4kg of heroin was found in his home, among other drugs.

Residential unit in central S’pore raided
In a news release on Friday, CNB said an islandwide anti-drug operation was conducted from 24 to 29 Nov.
Some of the areas involved included Bukit Batok, Hougang, Marsiling, Queenstown and Yishun.
One of these raids took place on Friday morning, when officers raided a residential unit in the central region of Singapore.
However, the male resident, a Singaporean, refused to let the officers in despite their lawful orders.
As such, they had to conduct forced entry.

He was quickly subdued by the officers to prevent injury to himself and others.
He was also arrested for suspected drug trafficking offences.
Drugs worth S$273K seized
That’s because drugs were seized from his unit, comprising about:
- 2,395g of heroin
- 722g of cannabis
- 25g of ‘Ice’
- 44 Erimin-5 tablets
- two ‘Ecstasy’ tablets
The haul has an estimated street value of about S$273,000, CNB said.
The heroin, cannabis and ‘Ice’ that was seized can feed the addiction of about 1,258 abusers for a week, the bureau added.
54 arrested in total, including 16-year-old girl
In total, 54 suspected drug offenders were arrested across the six days of the operations.
The youngest arrested was a 16-year-old Singaporean girl who is suspected of drug abuse.

The drugs seized included about:
- 2,430g of heroin
- 64g of ‘Ice’
- 723g of cannabis
- 9g of ketamine
- 38 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets
- 94 Erimin-5 tablets
They have an estimated street value of about S$286,000.
Additionally, 2,034 tablets of ‘Tawon Liar’ believed to contain Tapentadol were seized.
CNB officers well-trained for such situations: Deputy Director
Deputy Director (Operations) of CNB’s Intelligence Division Chang Gim Fook said the 29 Nov operation is “an example of the dangers that CNB officers face every day”.
As the suspect was holding a knife it was assessed that he could pose a danger to himself and the officers, added the Deputy Assistant Commissioner, stating:
Drug traffickers may be armed, increasing the risk to our officers. But this will not deter us.
He assured that CNB officers are well-trained to handle such situations. In this case, they managed to subdue the suspect safely and effectively before anyone got hurt.
Investigations are ongoing into all the arrested suspects.
