A GrabFood rider in Kuala Lumpur was left stunned after receiving an unexpectedly large tip of about RM1,000 (S$315) from a customer following a delivery in an upscale residential area.

The moment, captured in a video shared on TikTok by the rider on 15 Dec, has since gone viral and warmed the hearts of many online.

Customer calls rider back to give surprise tip

In the clip, the rider is seen handing over a food order to a man in a black T-shirt at a security booth.

The man, identified as Brandon, appeared to be the customer receiving the delivery.

Just as the rider was about to leave, Mr Brandon called out to him and asked him to wait briefly, saying he wanted to give him a tip.

Moments later, Mr Brandon returned holding a stack of RM100 notes and handed them to the visibly surprised rider.

The rider asked if he was sure about giving such a generous amount.

Mr Brandon then explained that he was leaving Malaysia the next day and did not want the hassle of exchanging the remaining cash.

Smiling in disbelief, the rider thanked him, counted the money, and placed it into his delivery bag.

Netizens say rider deserves a week off after getting big tip

The TikTok video quickly gained traction, amassing more than 2.5 million views

Many netizens praised Mr Brandon for his generosity, with several thanking him in the comments for blessing the rider.

Some comments were light-hearted. One user jokingly asked whether the rider would take a week off after receiving such a large tip.

Another commenter playfully asked for the address of the residential estate, saying he would start cleaning the roads in the area in hopes of meeting such a generous customer.
