Crab hunter’s sighting of person beckoning him leads to discovery of human remains in abandoned house
Human remains were discovered in an abandoned riverside house in Samut Prakan, Thailand, after a crab hunter allegedly saw a figure beckoning to him from inside the building.
On Sunday (10 May), the man was searching for crabs near the Chao Phraya River when he reportedly saw someone inside the house gesturing for him to come closer.
Curious, he made his way towards the house to investigate. However, when he entered one of the rooms, he found a human skeleton lying on a mattress.

Startled by the discovery, he ran out of the house and alerted nearby residents, who then contacted the police.
Authorities called to investigate the scene
At about 4.30pm, Lieutenant Weerawut Siri, Deputy Investigation Inspector at Phra Samut Chedi Police Station, received a report that human remains had been found inside a wooden house in the Laem Fa Pha subdistrict.
He later coordinated with forensic physicians from Phra Samut Chedi Sawatyanon Hospital and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation to inspect the scene.
According to Thairath, the scene was a raised, single-storey wooden house located by the Chao Phraya River.

The site had previously operated as a petrol station before shutting down more than 10 years ago.
Inside a bedroom, authorities found a human skeleton on the bed, reportedly lying slightly tilted to the left. Strands of hair were still attached to parts of the skull.
A pair of brown underwear was found at the foot of the bed, while clothes and several packets of instant noodles were found nearby. A mobile phone was also found near the head of the bed.
Remains believed to have been there for some time
Based on initial observations, the person is believed to have died at least four or five months before the discovery.

There were no signs of a struggle or of property being ransacked inside the room.
Officers found a copy of an ID card bearing the name of Prasert Sirirattanawatchakul, 60, a resident of Pathum Thani Province.
However, Thairath noted that it had not yet been confirmed whether the document was linked to the skeleton found at the scene.
The remains were sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and confirm the person’s identity.

House reportedly had a caretaker who was last seen before New Year
A 57-year-old local resident told Thairath that the old petrol station usually had a male caretaker in his 60s.
She said the last time she saw him was before New Year, when he came out to buy instant noodles.
