Car struck after driver moves into lorry driver’s blind spot

A car was struck in its rear after its driver moved into a lorry driver’s blind spot in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, on Monday (13 July).

Despite the vehicle sustaining damage, the car driver appeared to keep travelling down the road.

According to the Original Poster (OP) on Threads, the incident occurred at 5.14pm on a highway near AEON Bukit Raja.

Car almost sandwiched between two lorries

In the dashcam footage, a silver Perodua Myvi was seen almost sandwiched between two lorries on adjacent lanes.

Notably, all vehicles had their rear hazard lights on as the car came dangerously close to the left front side of the lorry on its right.

The lorry on the right then struck the rear of the car, causing part of its bumper to bend and fall.

However, the damaged bumper remained attached to the vehicle.

“Actually, before his rear bumper hit the lorry, his side mirror almost hit it too, but he managed to move his car aside,” the OP said in response to a comment in his post.

Despite the bumper dangling on its rear, the car driver continued to move, with its hazard lights blinking.

The lorry also maintained its hazard lights, but it was unclear whether both vehicles stopped to settle the incident.

Netizens accuse car driver of looking for trouble

Following the viral post, many pointed out that the car was in the lorry driver’s blind spot, where other vehicles shouldn’t venture.

One netizen believed the car driver wanted the lorry to give way so he could merge into the lane, and was persistent in doing so.

Translation: He can’t be angry anymore because he already knows the big truck doesn’t want to give way, so it’s his fate… other cars can just move a little to the left, but this one wants to fight with the container truck… just look at the truck, it’s already in its own lane, you can see the broken road lines there

However, many netizens said drivers shouldn’t think of sneaking up on large vehicles on the road, as this can cause an accident.

Some users even accused the car driver of looking for trouble; being willing to be sandwiched between two lorries just to cut into the lane.
