Chan Chun Sing brings Vietnam delegation to attend MPS, discusses bilateral ties over dinner at Lau Pa Sat
Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing invited a delegation from Vietnam to attend the Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru Meet-the-People Session (MPS) this Monday (24 Aug).
Afterwards, he brought them to Lau Pa Sat for an authentic hawker experience.

PM Wong meets with Vietnam politicians for inaugural strategic dialogue
Permanent Member of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Secretariat Tran Cam Tu visited Singapore from 24 to 25 Aug.
He and his accompanying delegation were there to co-chair the inaugural Singapore-Vietnam Strategic Dialogue (SVSD) alongside Mr Chan.
Prime Minister (PM) Lawrence Wong met Mr Tu and stated that the SVSD was a platform for Vietnam and Singapore’s officials to exchange views and address challenges.

Mr Chan shares MPS model with Vietnam delegation
Aside from official meetings and speeches, Mr Chan also hosted Mr Tu and others in his delegation at an MPS session on the night of 24 Aug.

He shared how the MPS allowed for Singapore’s Members of Parliament (MPs) to connect directly with residents.
It also helped them to understand the “ground issues” better.
Mr Tu stated that both the People’s Action Party (PAP) and CPV shared a commitment to fostering strong ties with the people through close public outreach.

Singapore and Vietnam officials discuss ties over hawker cuisine
Afterwards, Mr Chan brought them to Lau Pa Sat for dinner so they could experience hawker cuisine beyond just hotel food.

They discussed ideas to take their bilateral ties forward over what Vietnamese news sources called “traditional dishes”.
“Hope you enjoyed your time here as much as we enjoyed having you! Hẹn gặp lại!” Mr Chan wrote, or “see you later” in Vietnamese.
