Small gecko hitches a ride on the windshield of a car driving through the underpass in Singapore
Recently, a driver found themselves with an unexpected passenger on the windshield of their car.
The Original Poster (OP) noticed a small lizard, also known as the common four-clawed gecko, holding tightly onto their car’s windshield, seemingly hitching a ride.

In a video on Singapore Wildlife Sightings’ Facebook page on Tuesday (20 Oct), the OP, identified as Michael Lee, is driving his car through an underpass in Singapore.
In an exclusive with MS News, Mr Lee said he was driving at 80km/h along the Central Expressway (CTE) on his way to play golf with his son-in-law at around 6.30am.
Then, Mr Lee noticed movement at the bottom of his windscreen before realising that it was actually a lizard.

“I was not spooked. I was actually amused watching it being blown by the wind,” Mr Lee said to MS News.
Mr Lee then pointed it out to his son-in-law, who asked whether the lizard was inside or outside the car.
His son-in-law then proceeded to record the incident.
As for the lizard, Mr Lee said it looked “puzzled” and “[wondered] what was happening”.

With the car zipping through the underpass, the lizard continued to grab on tight, with its little tail wagging in the air.
Mr Lee shared with MS News that he did not notice the lizard before the drive.
He said: “I love lizards and would release them when I catch them at home.”
Despite being amused by the odd situation, Mr Lee said he only took swift glances at it as he needed to keep his eyes on the road.

He mentioned that the lizard stayed on the windshield throughout the journey.
Netizens asked if Mr Lee slowed down for the gecko
While the adorable sight left some giggling, netizens were also slightly concerned for the safety of the reptile.

Was a little dazed, but later disappeared from the car
Speaking to MS News, Mr Lee shared that after he parked the car, he and his son-in-law were in a hurry and left the lizard there on the windscreen.
“It was still a little dazed,” Mr Lee said. “I was glad it didn’t get blown off cause it might have been run over.”
However, when the two returned to the car after the game, the lizard was “nowhere in sight”.
“So I guessed it must have migrated,” Mr Lee added.
