The accident took place at 8:40am close to Opera Estate Primary School on 20 Nov, and involves Ms Yeo’s friend’s son and a white car.

Boy struck by car, injuring left leg

On 20 Nov, the boy, whose age is unknown but is a student of Opera Estate Primary School, was crossing the road along Norma Terrace to get to the football field located nearby.

He looked left and right before crossing, but was hit by an oncoming white car, falling down and rolling about a metre away – the impact injured his left leg.

The driver drove off after.

The boy managed to arrive at school, albeit with a limp – on noticing this, teachers informed her mother of the accident, who promptly came down to the school and after hearing what happened, sent him to K.K Hospital, as he reported pain in his left leg.

Thankfully, he was discharged the same day but was given 5 days of MC as a precaution.

Witnesses sought by mother

The Facebook post includes pictures of a police report and an approximation of where the accident took place.

The police report, made at Tanah Merah Neighbourhood Police Post, contains a description of the car and driver.

According to the police report, the white car’s driver was male, allegedly using his phone at the time of the incident.

Ms Yeo notes that the area contains several blind spots and corners, meaning the boy could have failed to spot an oncoming car before crossing the road despite looking to his left and right.

We’re lucky that the boy didn’t suffer any severe injury, but the driver failing to check on the boy after knocking him down is a gross oversight. We hope they can find him soon.

If anyone witnessed the accident on 20 Nov, they can contact Ms Yeo or her friend.
