Caucasian man allegedly photobombs tourists’ photo of Marina Bay Sands
A Caucasian man scared a tourist couple when he allegedly joined their photo of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) without permission.
The male tourist took to Threads on Saturday (10 Oct) to share about the experience, which left them rattled.
Man grabbed tourists’ phone
According to the Original Poster (OP), he and his partner were enjoying their time and taking photos as it was their first time visiting Singapore.
They had their phone set up on a tripod at Merlion Park overlooking MBS when a Caucasian man suddenly grabbed it, “as if he owned the place”.
When they stopped him, he instead inserted himself in their photo and even put his arm around the OP without his consent.
The OP said the man’s friend, who appeared to be local, then tried to stop him.

A photo attached to the OP’s post showed a taller man with his right arm around the OP’s shoulder, while another man seemed to pull the photobomber away by his other arm.
Man allegedly badmouthed tourists
“But apparently, that bruised his ego because he started badmouthing us,” the OP then claimed.
He said he and his partner eventually left the area after they started to get scared for their safety.
“We’re in a foreign country, and we didn’t want the situation to escalate,” he expressed.
The OP also claimed the man did “so much more” to them during the incident.
However, these were not revealed in the post.
Local netizens urge tourist to lodge police report
Several local netizens left comments on the OP’s post, apologising for their experience of Singapore.

Some speculated the man was drunk, while others said he was likely not local, as locals would not behave as the man had.

Many also said the OP should have sought help from the police.
They added that he can still lodge a police report in person or online, especially since he has photographic evidence.

OP thanks netizens for their advice
In response, the OP thanked everyone who shared advice and left comforting words in his post.
He said he wasn’t aware they could immediately call 999 in such situations.
“I wish I had known sooner, but I’m glad I learned something from this experience,” he said.
“We were just tourists trying to enjoy our trip, so our initial reaction was to just leave,” the OP also wrote, adding that they were caught off guard by the incident and were scared.

Fortunately, they managed to take photos together before the man showed up, he shared.
“We didn’t need his help in the first place,” the OP added.
