Choa Chu Kang Preschool Student Is One Of 10 Covid-19 Cases Reported On 9 Mar

Many establishments affected by Covid-19 thankfully take prompt action upon confirmation of a case on their premises.

The Choa Chu Kang branch of The Orange Tree Pte Ltd preschool is taking no chances, closing the school for 10 days following a case in one of its students.

The 5-year-old was one of 10 cases the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported on Monday (9 Mar).

Student linked to SAFRA Jurong cluster

The young boy, identified as Case 160, tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday (9 Mar) morning.

He is a family member of Case 145, who tested positive the day before (8 Mar).

Case 145 has links to the dinner event at SAFRA Jurong, and is a close contact of Cases 107 and 134, the former of which is linked to yet another previous case.

The boy is currently in an isolation room at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Choa Chu Kang preschool closes from 10 to 20 Mar

In light of the confirmation, the school has closed its Choa Chu Kang branch starting yesterday (10 Mar), following orders from the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA).

ECDA confirmed the temporary closure via a press release yesterday, where they also stated that the boy last attended school on Friday (6 Mar).

The premises will close for thorough cleaning and disinfection till 20 Mar, to cover the 14-day virus incubation period.

Staff and students at the branch are on Leave of Absence (LOA), while MOH conducts contact tracing.

They will have to stay home throughout the closure and LOA, and avoid gatherings or crowded places.

Children’s health under close observation

Teachers and parents have to monitor children’s health closely, especially if they had been in contact with the patient.

We hope that none of them will show any symptoms over the next few days, and will remain healthy.
