In an Instagram post on Saturday (10 Oct), the fan club acknowledged the crowding and rubbish left both inside and outside the venue during the K-pop group’s appearance at the F1 event.

The apology came a day after a Reddit post discussing the alleged mess and disputes over queue arrangements gained attention on r/SingaporeSpeaks.

CORTIS fanbase says fans queued overnight despite reminders

In its statement, the fanbase said fans had repeatedly been advised not to arrive too early and to return closer to the time gates opened.

However, large crowds still gathered to queue from the night before, creating what it described as an “unsafe and overwhelming situation”.

The fanbase said it had tried to share and pin reminders across its social media platforms, asking fans to follow venue rules, clean up after themselves and prioritise their safety.

It also apologised to other F1 attendees, venue staff and event organisers who had to deal with the crowds and mess.

The fanbase acknowledged that CORTIS’ first performance at an event such as F1 had attracted a large crowd of local and international fans.

It added that some inconsiderate actions had reflected poorly on the wider fandom.

“We love how excited everyone is but being a fan should never come at the expense of public spaces or the people cleaning up after us,” it said.

Reddit users criticise alleged litter and queue disputes

On Friday (9 Oct), a Reddit user shared a post claiming that CORTIS fans had left rubbish and footwear at the venue.

The user said they had seen photographs on X before the original account went private.

They also alleged that some fans had started queuing overnight despite organisers stating that the queue would only begin at around 1pm.

The user claimed that disputes arose when fans attempted to form unofficial queues and were told by organisers to move away.

Separately, a netizen shared a video showing litter at the Padang Stage audience area, captioning it, “what country are we even in now”.

The video also criticised some attendees’ behaviour during CORTIS’ 50-minute performance on the evening of 9 Oct.

Fanbase urges people not to target fans by nationality

Despite apologising for the incident, the fanbase urged the public to avoid blaming one another or targeting fans from particular countries.

It acknowledged that large crowds could include people from different backgrounds, but said individual acts of inconsiderate behaviour should not reflect on the entire fandom.

The fanbase ended its statement by calling on fans to behave more responsibly at future events so everyone could continue enjoying them safely.
