5 Covid-19 Deaths Reported On 28 Sep Involve Seniors Aged 69 & Above
Though it has been a month since Singapore residents were advised to minimise their social interactions, our daily number of Covid-19 cases continues to trend upwards.
Everyone Should Keep To 1 Social Gathering A Day Due To Rising Covid-19 Cases: MOH
On Tuesday (28 Sep), Singapore reported 2,236 new infections and the passing of 5 seniors.
This is the first time our daily case numbers have crossed the 2,000 mark.
5 new Covid-19 deaths on 28 Sep is highest so far
In its press release on Tuesday (28 Sep), the Ministry of Health (MOH) reported 2,236 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore including 1,711 in the community.
5 patients have also succumbed to Covid-19 complications. All of them were aged 69 and above and had underlying medical conditions:
- 77-year-old female Singaporean (Case 76917)
- 69-year-old male Singaporean (Case 89396)
- 73-year-old male Singaporean (Case 79829)
- 74-year-old male Singaporean (Case 79048)
- 79-year-old male Singaporean (Case 89975)
Of the 5 fatalities, 2 were fully inoculated while another 2 were unvaccinated. 1 of them was partially vaccinated.
In total, 85 people have passed on from Covid-19 complications.
239 seriously ill Covid-19 patients as of 28 Sep
As our daily figure continues to rise, the number of seriously ill patients have also ticked upwards.
As of 28 Sep, 209 Covid-19 patients require oxygen treatment while 30 are in the ICU.
1 new cluster at Man Fatt Lam Elderly Centre
Among the 11 clusters that MOH is currently monitoring is a new one at Man Fatt Lam Elderly Joy Daycare Centre.
The cluster has 11 cases at the time of reporting, with 10 involving clients while the remaining case is a staff member.
The care centre has reportedly closed since 25 Sep.
There continues to be considerable growth in clusters at workers’ dormitories.
Woodlands Dormitory had the highest number of new cases with 40 infections.
Meanwhile, Blue Stars Dormitory, which is the largest cluster with 401 infections, reported 20 new cases.
Other dormitory clusters include:
- Avery Lodge – 15 new cases, 256 total
- 11 Tuas Ave 10 dormitory – 5 new cases, 47 total
- Tampines Dormitory – 5 new cases, 66 total
- Bukit Batok Road/ Plantation Crescent dormitory – 5 new cases, 40 total
