Grey Mazda Knocks Into Motorcycle On CTE, Rider Left Tumbling On Road
When we collide into someone on the road, it’s only natural for us to stop our vehicle, check if the other party is injured, and call for medical help if necessary.
One driver, who knocked into a motorcyclist on the Central Expressway (CTE), however, sped away instead.
A delivery person who witnessed the accident attempted to gave chase, but lost sight of the vehicle after 3km. A clip of the accident was shared on the Trafic accident.SG Facebook group on Saturday (13 Jun).
Grey Mazada 3 knocks into motorbike on CTE while changing lane
In the first clip, a grey Mazda 3 was seen colliding into a motorcycle as it was swiftly changing lane towards its right.
The rider lost balance immediately and was sent tumbling on the expressway with his motorbike.
According to Lianhe Zaobao, the accident occurred on Friday (12 Jun) morning on CTE near the Balestier Road exit.
The Mazda continued accelerating after the collision, quickly overtaking other cars on the road.
40-year-old driver gave chase
40-year-old Mr Cai, who was driving the dashcam vehicle, couldn’t believe what had unfolded before him and decided to give chase.
He reportedly flashed his high beam multiple times signalling for the Mazda to stop, but to no avail.
Instead, the grey Mazda continued accelerating and changing lanes in a hazardous manner.
24-year-old driver assisting police with investigations
After giving chase for around 3km, Mr Cai eventually lost sight of the vehicle.
However, he managed to capture a clear photo of the Mazda’s car plate number and subsequently lodged a police report.
Responding to queries from Lianhe Zaobao, the police said that a 24-year-old man is currently assisting with investigations.
A 64-year-old rider was also brought to Raffles Hospital for treatment following the incident.
Hope the motorcyclist recovers soon
Seeing footage of the accident is indeed troubling. After all, the least a driver could do after knocking into another vehicle is to stop and render help.
We hope the motorcyclist did not suffer any major injuries and will make a full recovery soon.
