Jurong East MRT Will Have Security Checks For All Passengers On 5 Apr

Compulsory Jurong East MRT Security Screening From 10am To 4pm

Passengers entering Jurong East MRT on Friday (5 Apr), don’t be alarmed if you’re directed to go for security screening.

All commuters who pass through Jurong East MRT that day from 10am-4pm will have to go through a security screening as part of an emergency preparedness exercise.

In a joint release today (22 Mar) by LTA and SMRT, all travellers passing through Jurong East MRT station on 5 Apr during the time mentioned will be shown to the gates at the concourse after exit A for the security screening.

Some passengers may also be required to pass through a metal detector, and have their personal belongings scanned by X-ray machines.

Things to note

Due to the additional time incurred from the security screening, passengers should add extra travelling time to their journeys.

Hence, do consider leaving your houses earlier as we’re sure you do not want to be late for your appointments.

In addition, you might not want to lug your bulky barang-barang as they may slow down the security screening process for you.

Stay prepared in case of emergencies

This security screening process is part of a regular emergency preparedness exercise, Exercise Station Guard, under LTA and public transport operator SMRT.

We certainly hope that this exercise will make members of the public be more prepared in cases of emergencies.
