Boy performs martial arts during father’s wake
A 10-year-old boy performed martial arts during the wake of his father at a memorial hall in Malacca on Wednesday (2 Sept).
His father, 45-year-old Tan Choon Yen, wanted to watch his recent competition, but passed away due to cerebral haemorrhage.
Mr Tan’s wife also decided to donate his organs, giving others a new chance at life.
Father had planned to watch son’s competition
According to Sin Chew Daily, 10-year-old Yixuan performed Changquan (long fist), his father’s favourite martial art, at the funeral hall.
The late Mr Tan had originally planned to attend his son’s martial arts competition on Saturday (29 Aug).
Unfortunately, he fell into a coma on 24 Aug and passed away before he could do so.
Despite losing his father, Yixuan won three gold medals, which he dedicated to him.

Yixuan then decided to perform at his wake as a final goodbye to his father.
His teammates from the CS Wushu sports team also performed at the funeral to pay tribute to the late Mr Tan.

Father died due to severe cerebral haemorrhage
Mr Tan, a warehouse manager and spirit medium, suffered a severe headache on 22 Aug.
In the morning of 24 Aug, he suddenly collapsed and was subsequently taken to a private hospital for emergency treatment.
He fell into a coma and was diagnosed with severe cerebral haemorrhage.

“His heart even stopped beating at one point. Doctors tried various methods to save him, but in the end, there was no miracle,” his wife, Jessica Lam Wen Yunn, told China Press.
After over three days of observation, Mr Tan was pronounced brain dead.
He is survived by his wife, their 10-year-old son, and their 7- and 5-year-old daughters.
Family donates father’s organs
Following Mr Tan’s death, the hospital told Ms Lam that her husband’s organs were in good condition and were viable for organ donation.
She then agreed to donate five of his organs, namely his heart valves, lungs, liver, kidneys and corneas.

“I believed that he would support my decision from heaven,” Ms Lam expressed.
It is understood that Mr Tan’s liver has been transplanted into a one-year-old baby, giving the infant a new lease of life.
