Body of mother and child found embracing in rubble following landslide
A mother and her two-year-old child were found embracing beneath the rubble following a landslide in Baguio City, Philippines, on Sunday (9 Aug) evening.
Rescuers recovered the girl at around 2.52pm the following day, followed by her mother, amid continuous rain.
They were among 10 individuals who died in the disaster.
Meanwhile, three – including a man and a woman both 27 years old and a 77-year-old pastor – were found alive.
Three houses buried under soil and debris
According to the Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO), the landslide occurred in the Guisad Surong community at around 7pm on Sunday, affecting three houses and five families.

The southwest monsoon had brought heavy rainfall to the region.
Despite severe weather, a rescue team from the Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and partner agencies conducted a search and rescue operation.
They used a small excavator to help clear soil and debris, and a golden retriever was deployed early Monday to assist in locating the landslide victims, Mountain Beacon reported.

Dog rescued almost 24 hours after landslide
At 2.40am on 11 Aug, the Baguio City PIO said all missing individuals have been accounted for.
10 of them were found dead, while three were rescued.
A dog was also miraculously rescued from the debris almost 24 hours after the landslide occurred.
Its owner was reportedly among the landslide victims.
