‘MRT Lady’ charged for racist remarks in 2021 allegedly seen in public approaching strangers
A TikTok user shared a video on 17 Oct, showing a woman who appears to be the “MRT Lady” approaching strangers in public.
“MRT Lady”, or Tan Beow Hiong, gained public attention in 2021 after viral videos showed her making racist remarks and questioning commuters about their race on MRT trains in Singapore.
She was charged for her actions in June 2021, but was granted a discharge amounting to an acquittal in Dec 2022.
The Attorney-General’s Chambers had withdrawn the charges, issuing her a stern warning instead, citing her psychological condition.
Same antics as before
MS News was able to reach out to the Original Poster (OP), who chose to stay anonymous, for more information.

The OP saw the lady at Jurong Point at around 8:45 pm. The recorded scenes took place in the food court on the third floor of the shopping mall.
OP recounted that the lady was “mainly [showing] videos of like (sic) people that she recorded on the train”. He added:
Essentially what she did in 2021 she’s literally still doing it.
OP gave more detail, elaborating that the lady initially went around “parading [a] specific clip across all the different tables”.
She then told the various patrons that “an Indian man had beat her” (translated from Mandarin), while acting out being punched.
She then allegedly sat herself at a stranger’s table to talk to them. OP also speculated:
I don’t think most of them knew who she is because they were quite open to speaking with her.
The woman apparently paced around doing these actions for five minutes before sitting down to eat her meal.
OP did not know what happened after the video ended, as he had left the premises shortly after.
Not the first sighting
Commenters on OP’s video also mentioned that they had seen “MRT Lady” at Jurong Point before.

It is unclear how often the supposed “MRT Lady” shows the same behaviour as seen in the TikTok video, despite frequent claims of her sightings.
