Outram HDB Murder Suspects Reportedly Killed Toddler In 2014, Both Charged On 17 Sep Morning

On Monday (16 Sep), police released a statement unveiling more troubling facts about the case.

Turns out, the remains belonged to a 2-and-a-half-year-old female toddler who was reportedly murdered back in 2014.

The deceased’s biological parents are believed to have murdered the 2-year-old toddler and will be charged today (17 Sep) for murder.

The toddler may have been murdered in 2014

The accused, a 31-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, have apparently been in remand since last June for separate offences, including rioting, theft, and other drug-related charges.

According to The Straits Times, the couple was believed to have murdered their daughter 5 years ago, back in 2014.

If this was true, it only poses more questions regarding the case, such as how her body was ‘hidden’ for the past 5 years, and why it was only discovered recently.

The couple reportedly has at least 3 children. They’re also the registered occupants of the Outram HDB flat where the charred remains of the 2-year-old were found.

The couple was charged in court on Tuesday (17 Sep) morning with murder, reports Lianhe Zaobao. The hearing date for this case has been set on next Tuesday (24 Sep).

The couple faces the death penalty if found guilty.

Remains of 2-year-old found in metal pot at Outram HDB

Residents of the HDB flat were said to have detected a strong “rotting smell” along the corridors at least 1 week prior to the discovery of the toddler’s remains.

The police were called in on Tuesday (10 Sep) at around 8.30pm and found the charred human remains inside a metal pot.

According to residents, a man in his 20s was staying in the HDB unit when the remains were found.

Before that, a couple with children occupied the flat. It wasn’t revealed if this is also the same couple who now faces the murder charges.

May those responsible be swiftly brought to justice

Like many of you, we are equally shocked and horrified by the case.
