Singaporean Son Writes Heartwarming Appreciation Post For His Dad & Other Essential Workers
While the rest of us stay home during this ‘Circuit Breaker’, many essential workers are still toiling on the frontline.
These people deserve our gratitude, especially our nearest and dearest, and one Singaporean son expressed just that.
He decided to thank his father, a cleaner whom he sees leave home for work every morning.
In a heartfelt appreciation post for essential workers, he encourages the public to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines — the best way to repay these individuals for their hard work and sacrifice.
He also anchored his story with an image, capturing a poignant moment in which his father was leaving for yet another day of work to keep Singapore clean.
His dad is an essential worker
Mr Syazwan Majid penned a moving letter for his essential worker father in a Facebook post on Monday (27 Apr).
Even with a virus in full swing, his father has not stopped doing his job – which he has been at for 40 years.
This meant exposing himself to the highly infectious Covid-19 virus daily, despite his already more susceptible age.
To this, Mr Syazwan expressed that the effort and dedication portrayed by his father left him thankful, overwhelmed and lucky to be his father’s son.
Stay home for our essential workers
Like Mr Syazwan’s dad, many essential workers are still getting up for work each morning, so that we can enjoy the safety and comfort of our own homes.
These people deserve our greatest respect and sincere gratitude, and we can show this by diligently staying home.
Mr Syazwan urges Singaporeans to strictly adhere to ‘Circuit Breaker’ guidelines.
By playing our part, we are not only protecting senior citizens who are much more vulnerable to Covid-19 – we are also reducing the burden of frontline staff.
Show appreciation
Therefore, the next time you meet a food deliverer or supermarket staff, do treat them with kindness.
During this critical period, essential workers are still toiling hard to keep parks and streets beautiful for our morning run, ensure food shelves are fully stocked and deliver food to our doorsteps.
The least we can do is repay their efforts by being considerate and socially responsible.
