PHV driver shares spooky encounter with makcik and ‘disappearing girl’
A private-hire vehicle (PHV) driver has recalled a disturbing encounter during a trip from Pasir Ris to Tampines.
He claimed he saw a girl sitting beside his passenger, only for the passenger to later insist that she had boarded the vehicle alone.
PHV driver encounters ‘disappearing girl’
In a TikTok post on 10 Sept, @road.side_stories said the incident happened “a couple of years ago” but remains vivid in his memory.
According to the Original Poster (OP), he arrived at a pickup location in Pasir Ris at around 1pm and saw an older woman, whom he referred to as a “makcik”, getting into his Honda Freed.
As he watched through his rear-view mirror, he said he saw another woman enter the vehicle and sit beside the makcik.
@road.side_stories i have driven thousands of passengers, but one afternoon at 1 pm something happened I still can’t explain. this day, I still don’t know what I saw Maybe there was a simple explanation or maybe there wasn’t. 😱😨😫😧👻👻 What do you think 🤔🤔 #RoadsideStories #PHVLifeSG #storytime #PHVLifeSG #GhostStory

The younger woman reportedly kept quiet throughout the short journey, with the OP saying she kept her head lowered and did not interact with anyone.
During the ride, the makcik also shared that she was experiencing body aches and pain. The OP then suggested that she consider seeing a doctor or getting a massage.

When they arrived, the OP opened the door for the makcik and turned around to check the back seat, something he habitually does before passengers leave to make sure they don’t leave anything behind.
That was when he realised that the younger woman was nowhere to be seen.
Passenger insists that she boarded the vehicle alone
Confused, the OP asked the passenger where the “girl” had gone. The makcik allegedly replied that she was alone and there was no one else in the car.
The driver said he was convinced he had seen someone sitting beside her, describing the woman as wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.
He also recalled that both he and the passenger became frightened by the situation. The OP then drove away, playing a prayer song in his car.

As he was leaving the carpark, he finally looked into his rear-view mirror and claimed he saw the makcik standing near a pillar, with what appeared to be an arm extending from behind it.
Frightened, the OP drove home, “cleansed” his car with sage, and didn’t drive for the rest of the day.
The driver acknowledged that there could have been a simple explanation for what happened, but said he still cannot explain what he saw to this day.
Netizens react to eerie encounter, say it could have been worse
A netizen wondered if the “ghost” was attached to the passenger or the driver.

A TikTok user also speculated that the body pain experienced by the makcik may have been related to the “thing” following her.

Another netizen said thankfully it happened in the afternoon, as it would have been scarier if this occurred at night.

‘Girl who disappeared’ was a young adult
The OP, who wished to remain anonymous, told MS News that the incident took place around April or May 2023.
He also shared that the “girl” who disappeared after the ride seemed to be a “young adult”.
“When I picked up the passenger, I recalled seeing only the makcik. Later, when I noticed the young woman in my rear-view mirror, I assumed she had entered the vehicle without me noticing,” the OP said.
“It was only when she suddenly disappeared that I became confused and unsettled,” he added.
He initially tried to process what he had seen rather than immediately assuming that it was something supernatural.
