S&CC Increments Kick In At PAP-Run TCs This Month, Expect To Pay Between $0.50 And $8 More

Second Round Of S&CC Increments To Start This Month For Residents, Tenants In PAP-Run TCs

Residents and tenants in all 15 town councils run by the People’s Action Party will see their service and conservancy charges (S&CC) increase from this month.

This is part of a two-phase increment announced last February.

In the first increment in June 2017, S&CC prices were raised between $0.50 and $9 every month, depending on the flat type.

Generally, larger flats pay more.

The second increase took effect on Friday (1 Jun) and will be between $0.50 and $8.

S&CC for commercial entities, such as offices, markets and cooked food stalls located in the 15 town councils will also go up.

Shops and offices will pay an additional S$0.05 to S$0.21 per sq m a month from Friday.

Meanwhile, market and food stalls will pay an extra S$2.50 and S$17.50 a month in this month’s increase.

The 15 PAP-run town councils are:

  • Ang Mo Kio
  • Bishan-Toa Payoh
  • Chua Chu Kang
  • East Coast-Fengshan
  • Holland-Bukit Panjang
  • Jalan Besar
  • Jurong-Clementi
  • Marine Parade
  • Marsiling-Yew Tee
  • Nee Soon
  • Pasir Ris-Punggol
  • Sembawang
  • Tanjong Pagar
  • Tampines
  • West Coast

Necessary increases

The increases are necessary for the town councils to keep up with rising costs associated with maintaining estates.

These include costs of cleaning and pest control.

To deal with the rising costs, the Government has typically handed out S&CC rebates in previous Budgets.

Budget 2018 saw a bumper $126 million worth of rebates handed out to 900,000 households.

This is an increase from $120 million worth of rebates in the previous financial year.
