51-year-old man arrested for assaulting koi fish in Bangkok
Police in Bangkok arrested a man on Thursday (10 Sept) for jumping into a private fish pond and assaulting koi fish.
The suspect was identified as 51-year-old Suchitchai, or Tong, who also admitted to committing lewd acts to other animals and inanimate objects before.
Lewd acts caught on camera
According to Khaosod, the suspect was caught on CCTV sexually assaulting fish on 7 Sept.
Footage showed Tong arriving on a bicycle and parking next to a fish pond outside a house.
He walked around the pond and surveyed the area before exposing his genitals and attempting to catch a koi fish.
Minutes later, he took off all his clothes and climbed into the pond. He then caught a fish and used it to masturbate before returning it to the water.

Fish owner files police report
The housekeeper and the fish owner discovered the suspect committing the lewd act, but he fled on his bicycle.
The fish owner, Bobby, who was injured in the chase, later filed a complaint at the Thung Song Hong Police Station.
Upon receiving the report, an investigation team went to the vicinity of the incident to track down Tong.
In the afternoon, they saw him wearing the same clothes he had on during the incident.
Tong tried to flee upon spotting the police, but officers gave chase and arrested him.

Suspect admits to doing lewd acts to animals and objects
During questioning, Tong confessed he was the person in the CCTV footage.
He claimed that he initially went to the pond to take a bath, but was sexually aroused by the koi fish.
“Before this, I had done this to other fish already,” the suspect told police.

He also said he had even done lewd acts to a doll he found in a rubbish dump.
Tong told investigators that he had no money to pay for sex and did not have a partner. He also admitted to using meth.
Fish owner found several fish dead
Bobby, who has been taking care of the koi for about eight years, said Tong would often walk past his house.
Sometimes, the suspect would take a bath in the pond, but the owner didn’t mind, since he only left the floor wet.
However, Bobby became suspicious when his fish started dying one or two at a time. He also found the fish’s bodies bent, which initially led him to believe they died by fighting or hitting the pond.

Although they have had CCTV cameras for some time, Bobby rarely checked them, unsuspecting of the man’s lewd acts towards his fish.
However, on 7 Sept, the housekeeper found a sex toy near the pond, prompting Bobby to adjust the CCTV camera to overlook the pond area.
Later that evening, the owner was horrified to find Tong masturbating in the pond using his fish.
Fish owner concerned suspect may harm other people
The fish owner expressed concern that the suspect could harm others, particularly women and children, Khaosod reported.
He claimed that the man used drugs and carried a knife.
Police are currently investigating the case and further questioning the suspect.
He may face charges including animal cruelty, property damage, committing an indecent act and nighttime trespassing.
