Pulau Tekong Basic Military Training Centre Water Supply Has Returned To Normal

Update (21 Nov, 11.30pm): Water supply on Pulau Tekong has returned to normal at 9.30pm on 21 Nov, according to a Public Utilities Board (PUB) Facebook post.

Water samples collected for testing shows that the it is safe for drinking and in accordance to the World Health Organisation’s drinking water quality guidelines.

Investigations are currently ongoing and PUB will closely monitor the situation on the island.

“Discoloured tap water” found in BMTC

According to the post, “discoloured tap water” was found in parts of the Basic Military Training Centre (BMTC) on Pulau Tekong island where most recruits undergo their Basic Military Training.

PUB was notified of the situation and responded flushed the island’s water network with haste.

Officers have also collected water samples for investigation purposes.

BMTC is currently using other sources of water as well as special “water wagons” from PUB for hydration purposes like drinking and preparation of food.

The training centre, together with PUB is working together to restore potable water supply ASAP.
