26 Local Malay Talents Collaborate To Dedicate Touching Tribute To Frontline Workers
While Singaporeans might disagree on many things, one thing we can all agree on is that frontline workers are our heroes. They risk their own safety every day and toil around the clock so that the rest of us can stay safe at home.
As such, it is no surprise that this group of people receive an overwhelming amount of support from the nation. From writing thoughtful messages to healthcare workers, to treating delivery drivers to free meals, citizens just can’t thank them enough.
And now, 26 local Malay musicians have banded together in an epic collaboration to dedicate a touching tribute to frontline workers.
Performs touching tribute to frontline workers
Member of Parliament (MP) Amrin Amin shared the heartwarming performance in a Facebook post on Saturday (16 May).
He introduces it as a rendition of Sweet Charity’s ‘Hilang Gelap Terbitlah Terang“, which roughly translates to “Darkness Fade To Rising Light”.
This couldn’t be more apt for our current climate, so let’s take a moment to enjoy the spectacular display.
The song even has English subtitles, for peeps who can’t understand Malay.
26 local acts supported the project
The collaboration saw participation from 26 Singapore Malay singers, guitarists and artistes.
Notably, past Singapore Idols Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza had their beautiful vocals featured as well.
Veteran rocker Ramli Sarip also lent his voice to the cause. If he sounds familiar, that’s because he sang the special rendition of the national anthem during 2019’s National Day Parade.
We’d get into introducing the other 23 talented musicians, but honestly we’re still too hooked on the touching performance.
Hopefully, frontline workers feel the same way, and gather strength from the show of support.
Timely reminder to stay strong
Although Covid-19 separates us physically, it has not divided our spirit. This overwhelming show of support is a very convincing testament to that.
Let’s continue to support each other through this crisis, and combat the pandemic with united hearts.
