Wheelchair-Bound Courier Braves Gloomy Weather To Make Delivery, Customer In Awe Of His Resilience
Delivery riders have to travel long distances and brave harsh weather conditions. While the job can be tough, some have it harder than others due to their disabilities.
On Thursday (2 Sep), a local named Shah Ismail shared his encounter with a wheelchair-bound courier named Mr Zahid.
Despite the rainy weather that day, the courier somehow managed to deliver a package from Woodlands to Tampines within an hour.

Customer surprised to find wheelchair-bound courier
Mohamed Zahid Bin Mohd Yassin, also known as Mr Zahid, is a 39-year-old wheelchair-bound courier. He delivers small parcels and hand-carried items through his business —Ayeed the Courier.
Mr Shah discovered the courier service via Telegram and ordered for a package to be delivered from his place in Woodlands to Our Tampines Hub by 11.30am.
Unaware of Mr Zahid’s background, Mr Shah was surprised to find a middle-aged man with reduced mobility at his doorstep at 10.30am.
At first, the customer thought Mr Zahid was a door-to-door salesman and asked if he needed anything and how he could help.
Seemingly used to the shock of first-time customers, Mr Zahid casually introduced himself as the delivery rider for his package.
Speechless customer in awe of resilience
Mr Shah was stunned by the revelation and proceeded to ask if the courier was alone and how he planned to get to the destination.
In response, Mr Zahid confirmed that he worked by himself and usually took public transport. He also reassured Mr Shah that he can make the delivery within an hour.
Mr Shah was especially touched by Mr Zahid’s commitment as it was apparently drizzling that morning.
Encounter was an eye-opener
Although their encounter was brief, the event was an eye-opener for Mr Shah — Mr Zahid’s superb work ethic and positivity were clear, despite his condition.
Reflecting on the incident, Mr Shah believes many of us take our good health for granted and become tired and lazy.
Yet, others with special needs continue to persevere in the face of overwhelming challenges.
On a final note, he writes,
When you focus on someone’s disability you’ll overlook their abilities, beauty and uniqueness.
We must love and accept people with special needs for who they are, regardless of our preconceived stereotypes. That way, we subconsciously learn to love ourselves unconditionally too.
