Over 900 counterfeit goods seized from 2 shops in mall along Scotts Road
Two women aged 39 and 54 were arrested last week for allegedly selling counterfeit goods worth more than S$180,000.
They were nabbed during raids at a mall along Scotts Road, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in a news release on 18 Sept.

Luxury bags among purported counterfeit goods found in Scotts Road mall
The suspected offences were uncovered last Thursday (16 Sept), during simultaneous raids conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at two shops in the mall.
CID officers seized more than 900 purported trademark-infringing goods, comprising:
- luxury bags
- watches
- apparel
- footwear
- accessories

Their estimated street value was more than S$180,000.
Jail & fine possible for possession of counterfeit goods
The two women were subsequently arrested for their suspected involvement in the sale of counterfeit goods.
The possession of goods with falsely applied trademarks for the purpose of trade is an offence under the Trade Marks Act 1998, SPF said.
Those convicted face a jail term of up to five years and/or a fine of up to S$100,000.
Police investigations are ongoing.

SPF takes a serious view of IP infringement
SPF said it takes a “serious view” of intellectual property rights infringement.
Thus, it reminded members of the public that it is a serious offence to distribute and sell counterfeit goods, adding:
The police will not hesitate to take tough action against those who profit at the expense of legitimate businesses and consumers.
Selling counterfeit goods over social media also an offence
Selling counterfeit goods over social media platforms is also an offence, SPF previously said.
In June, a woman was arrested for allegedly selling counterfeit goods over TikTok from her home in Yishun.
More than 700 items worth more than S$34,000 were seized from her flat, including luxury bags, watches and footwear.
