Fatal Accident Between Car & Bus In Woodlands Leaves 1 Dead, 9 Others Hospitalised

Car & Bus Collide In Woodlands Accident On 1 Sep Morning

UPDATE (2.14pm): Another person, a 53-year-old woman who was on the bus, has passed away in the hospital, The Straits Times (ST) reports. The driver of the car who also died has been identified as a 32-year-old man.

Bus operator Tower Transit Singapore stated that they will provide assistance to the late passenger’s family. They will also help the other victims in the hospital with their medical claims.

Furthermore, the bus captain, who is in a stable condition, will be relieved of all duties.

TODAY adds that police investigations are currently ongoing.

One person was killed and nine others were injured after a car crashed into a bus in Woodlands on Thursday (1 Sep) morning.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the fatal accident took place at about 6.10am at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 9 and Woodlands Avenue 4.

Videos and photos of the aftermath show that a yellow sedan had run headfirst into the side of a Tower Transit bus.

Two ominous blue were also seen at the scene.

Car driver allegedly ran red light before colliding with bus

Lianhe Zaobao reports that the yellow Honda – which was going straight at the time – T-boned the Tower Transit bus as the latter was making a right turn.

A member of the SGRoad Blocks / Traffic News Telegram group claimed that he saw the driver run a red light moments before the crash.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed with Lianhe Zaobao that they received a notice about the accident at the junction of Woodlands Avenue 9 and Woodlands Avenue 4.

Paramedics pronounced one person – apparently the Honda driver – dead at the scene.

They also conveyed nine others to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital for treatment. Two of the victims reportedly sustained serious injuries.

Worryingly, another member of the Telegram group pointed out that a child’s car seat appeared to have fallen out of the yellow sedan.

A close-up photo shows the item on the road behind the sedan, although it looks to be intact. It’s unclear if any children were involved in the collision.

Another photo of the Honda being towed away shows the severe extent of the damage to the car.

The entire front section seems to have caved in, leaving just scrunched-up pieces of metal.

The accident caused massive traffic jams, with motorists being advised to avoid the area as much as possible.
