Yishun NTUC FairPrice & Giant Visited By Covid-19 Patients On 28 May

On Monday (2 Jun), the MOH confirmed 544 new cases of Covid-19, of which 4 were community cases. The rest involved Work Permit holders staying in dormitories.

2 supermarkets in Yishun were included on the lists of public places visited by Covid-19 patients during their infectious period:

  • NTUC FairPrice (414 Yishun Ring Road): 28 May (Thurs) 1.00-1.30pm
  • Giant (418 Yishun Avenue 11): 28 May (Thurs), 1.30-2.00pm

This is the first of such locations in this neighbourhood. The majority of the previously listed places were concentrated in the western, northern & central regions.

Parkway Parade visit happened during non-peak hours

An undisclosed number of Covid-19 community patients visited Yishun’s NTUC FairPrice & Giant on 28 May, stated the MOH’s press release.

The FairPrice visit occurred during peak hours on a Thursday afternoon, right after noon.

While the Giant supermarket visit happened later, from 1.30-2pm. MOH has issued previous advisories for shoppers to stagger their marketing hours to avoid the peak hour & weekend crowds.

The list of public locations currently excludes the following places:

  • Residence
  • Workplaces
  • Healthcare facilities
  • Public transport

Monitor your health closely

As for citizens who’ve visited these 2 Yishun supermarkets at similar dates & timings, they should monitor their health closely for the next 14 days from their date of visit.

Visitors of these areas are reminded to see a doctor immediately if you develop any of these respiratory symptoms:

  • Cough
  • Sore throat
  • Runny nose
  • Fever
  • Loss of taste/smell

Patients should also inform their doctors of their “exposure history”, said MOH.
