Man in Indonesia stabs another man to death over chicken or egg debate

A man fatally stabbed another man following a heated debate over whether the chicken or the egg came first.

The incident occurred in a village in South Sulawesi, Indonesia on the evening of 24 July.

The perpetrator, identified by the initials DR, attacked 47-year-old Kadir Markus during the argument, reported Indonesian news outlet Kompas.

The two men had been drinking when the incident occurred.

Stabbed the victim 15 times

The two men did not know each other before meeting at a drinking spot, AKP La Ode Arsangka, Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Muna Police, told Kumparan.

As they drank, they began joking and exchanging riddles, including the classic debate over whether the chicken or the egg came first.

However, the perpetrator got emotional and left the gathering to get a sharp weapon at home.

When he returned, DR then brutally stabbed Kadir Markus 15 times, Kompas reported.

Perpetrator surrendered himself to police

La Ode also stated that the victim died on the spot.

Although residents who witnessed the stabbing rushed Kadir Markus to the hospital, his life could not be saved.

Meanwhile, DR took off on a motorbike and surrendered himself to the police.

Tongkuno Police Chief Iptu Abdul Hasan confirmed that the incident is being treated as a murder, according to Kompas.
