New minister Jeffrey Siow to join US tariffs task force, replaces Desmond Lee
Following Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s Cabinet reshuffle, the Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce (SERT) has announced key changes to its line-up.
On Tuesday (27 May), newly appointed Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance, Jeffrey Siow, officially joined the task force. He replaces Desmond Lee, who has stepped down from the role.

Also stepping into a new role is Teo Siong Seng, the newly elected chairman of the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), who takes over from former chairman Lim Ming Yan as SBF’s representative on the task force.

The updates took effect immediately, according to a joint statement issued by the SBF, Ministry of Trade and Industry, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) and Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF).
Task force line-up remains mostly unchanged
Other than the two new faces, the rest of the SERT members remain the same.
The task force, which is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Gan Kim Yong, now includes:
- Josephine Teo (Minister for Digital Development and Information)
- Tan See Leng (Minister for Manpower and Minister-in-charge of Energy and Science & Technology)
- Chee Hong Tat (Minister for National Development)
- Jeffrey Siow (Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance)
- Teo Siong Seng (Chairman of SBF)
- Ng Chee Meng (Secretary-General of NTUC)
- Tan Hee Teck (President of SNEF)
DPM Gan noted that the latest appointments reflect updates to the Cabinet and SBF Council.
However, he stressed that SERT’s core mission has not changed.
“SERT’s mandate remains unchanged,” he said. “We will continue to work with our tripartite partners to help our businesses and workers navigate the current uncertainties in global trade.”
