The 56-year-old housekeeper, known as Auntie Khod (transliterated from Thai), discovered a black bag containing the money near a rubbish bin in Udon Thani province.
She turned the money over to the police, who then issued a notice to locate the owner.
Delivery driver claims money
At about 11am on 12 April, a 27-year-old delivery driver, Mr Phunsap, arrived at Mueang Udon Thani Police Station to claim the money.
He said the cash was likely lost on 6 April, when he had gone to pick up a motorised tricycle in the same area before continuing with his deliveries.

The money had been withdrawn for fuel and operational expenses, and also included some funds from customers.
Mr Phunsap said he initially did not think the money reported in the news was his.
However, after recognising the bag, he checked the back of his vehicle and realised it was missing.
He explained that he had placed the bag at the back of his vehicle during a busy moment, and believed he may have dropped it due to carelessness.

He was reportedly overwhelmed upon recovering the money and said he did not expect to get it back.
