Customer mistakenly pays S$200 for S$2 curry puff
While working long hours to provide us with delicious meals, hawkers endure slim profit margins due to the high cost of ingredients and rent.
Despite this, the owners of a curry puff stall in Tanjong Pagar Plaza Market & Food Centre went out of their way to be honest when a customer mistakenly paid them S$200 for a S$2 curry puff.
Upon realising the error, the owners of Rolina Traditional Hainanese Curry Puffs immediately posted on social media to locate the customer who had overpaid and refund the extra S$198.

Customer has not returned to claim refund
Speaking to MS News, the Gen Z owner of the curry puff stall, Kwan Wei Lun, said the incident occurred on Monday (29 June) at 1.03pm.
He said his wife went to the toilet, and he was serving customers during the peak hour when the woman bought a curry puff.

However, he only realised that the customer had overpaid S$198 after he had finished serving the queue.
Mr Kwan said the woman was not a regular, but he suspects she works nearby.
As the woman has not come forward to claim her refund as of 10.44am on 30 June, the owner is requesting her to return to the stall or contact them.
Hawker stall owners praised for honesty
Some Facebook users praised the owners of the curry puff stall for their honesty.
“Not only are they hardworking, [but] this young couple is very honest too,” one of the admins of the Can Eat! SG Facebook group said.
In response to these compliments, Mr Kwan told MS News: “We always believe that business should be conducted honestly. Money should be earned through hard work, integrity, and fair dealings.”
