Mr Chan & Mr Heng Both Want To Encourage A Multi-Cultural Singapore
With the prime ministerial race reportedly narrowed down to 2 candidates, Minister Chan Chun Sing has been keeping himself busy.
He took time out to attend a Deepavali event at Zhangde Primary School on 17 Nov (Sat), coming dressed for the occasion.
Festival of Lights
Mr Chan wrote in his post that he was heartened to see more than 700 Tanjong Pagar and Radin Mas residents coming together to celebrate Deepavali.
We also spotted Ms Indranee Rajah in attendance, in a beautiful red sari. Here they are lighting the flames as part of the opening ceremony.
The community also bonded over traditional Indian food and snacks, and partook in games and craft workshops.
Dressed to impress
Mr Chan then made his rounds around the tables at the event, snapping photos with residents.
We’re loving how Mr Chan’s rocking the red Kurta he’s wearing with the two beautiful ladies beside him.
Finally, a group picture to commemorate the occasion was taken at the school’s canteen — transformed into a makeshift photobooth.

Batik for Mr Heng
As for Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat – and reported PM candidate – he wasn’t idle either.
He wrote about attending a Malay Language Teacher Award Ceremony at Orchid Country Club in a Facebook post on 16 Nov — also dressing for the occasion in a Batik shirt.
In his post, he detailed his admiration for Malay language teachers, highlighting the importance of promoting bilingualism in schools — so a multi-cultural Singapore may be achieved and maintained.
Who wore it better?
We’re glad both Mr Heng and Mr Chan are reaching out to citizens through these events. A relatable and well-respected public presence on social media would be a major plus for the eventual 4G PM-to-be.
