Klang Barber Shop Has Just 3 Barbers, Takes 3 Minutes Per Haircut
As Malaysia starts to ease its Movement Control Order measures, barbers and salons across the country were finally allowed to reopen on Wednesday (10 Jun).
While one would expect many barbers to be overwhelmed as Malaysians to rush to have their manes cut, one popular barber shop in the town of Klang seemed to take this in its stride.
Up to 120 customers’ hair was trimmed within a span of 2 hours, with the achievement going viral in the process.
Klang salon has just 3 barbers
According to Sin Chew Daily, Lucky Star – an old-school hairdressing salon in Klang – had about 20 people in line when it opened for business at 9am on Wednesday (10 Jun).
The early crowd reportedly comprised mainly older folks, possibly due to the Malaysian government’s call for barbers to set appointment timings for those above 60 years old.
2 hours and a ton of snipping later, the 3 barbers at the shop had finished cutting the hair of 120 customers.
We’ll save you the mental sums. That’s equivalent to roughly 3 minutes per haircut — amazing!
Safety precautions were taken, leading to haircut price rising to $5
While their speed is no doubt out of this world, they aren’t taking it easy with the safety precautions too.
For starters, only 3 customers are allegedly allowed in the shop premises at any one time, all of whom were subjected to temperature checks.
Furthermore, the customers were made to wear disposable gowns to minimise their risk of infection.
As a result of the additional expenses incurred from implementing such measures, the barber charged RM15 (S$5) for each haircut — an increase of S$1 from their regular rates.
It’s still quite affordable for a quick trim!
Glad they are not compromising on safety
Cutting someone’s hair in just 3 minutes is pretty insane, but we’re glad folks at Lucky Star are not compromising on safety during the process.
As more establishments in Malaysia are allowed to reopen, let’s hope the Covid-19 situation in the country remains stable so people can return to their normal daily lives again.
