Meanwhile, Manchis, a female cocker spaniel mix, honed in on the foreign object that has just been tossed into its home.

“She chewed it and chewed it and saved our lives,” said Machis’ grateful owner Carlos Alberto Mesias Zarate.

The incident has been reported to the police, who have since been able to detain a suspect.
Mr Zarate, who works as a journalist, believes he was deliberately targeted because of his line of work.
Police told him the dynamite used in the attempted bombing was the same type used in mines.
While the attack was unsurprising for the journalist, Manchis’ heroics were.
The canine’s quick thinking saved the entire household, which includes 10 people and three additional dogs inside.
However, Manchis has since lost her ability to bark.

“You can’t hear her bark now,” Mr Zarate said, as the canine had suffered injuries to her vocal cords.
