SMRT Says Repair Works To Fix Crack Near Changi Airport MRT Track Will Be “Complex”

Commuters travelling to and fro Changi Airport via MRT from now till 21 Jan should factor in an additional travelling time of roughly 5 minutes.

This comes after a crack was found on the train track near Changi Airport MRT station, reports The Straits Times.

Changi Airport MRT track crack repair will be completed by 21 Jan

As a result of the crack, trains travelling to and fro Changi Airport MRT station would be diverted to one platform, in order to avoid the affected section of the track.

SMRT did not disclose the size of the crack but described the repair works – which would be completed by next Tuesday (21 Jan) –  as “complex”.

Hence, commuters are advised to factor in an additional travelling time of 5 minutes.

One commuter interviewed by The Straits Times, however, claimed his travelling time was prolonged for 15 minutes, as the effects of the delays were carried over to the rest of the journey.

Plan your journey accordingly

If you happen to be travelling to the Changi Airport this weekend, do account for the expected delays and plan your journey accordingly.

Otherwise, opt for other means of transport so you can catch your flight on time.
