Off-duty policeman goes beyond the call of duty He intended on having a supper date with his girlfriend but off-duty policeman Muhammad Fareez wasn’t prepared to allow a crime take place before his eyes. The Staff Sergeant’s (SSGT) from the Singapore Police Force crime-preventing skills were put to the test when he went to fetch his girlfriend, paramedic Nurul Fatin from Yishun Fire Station at 11:30pm. As they were about to depart from the station, they heard a ruckus near the entrance of the fire station. What caught their attention next was a group of men taking off, leaving behind a man who had a head wound and was limping. With Ms Fatin’s background as a paramedic, her first instinct was to provide first aid to the injured man. The man then informed Mr Fareez that he was assaulted by the unknown group of men that took off. SSGT Fareez’s resourcefulness Without much hesitation, the officer from the Bukit Timah Neighbourhood Police Centre gave chase on his motorcycle.
