iJooz makes police report after teenager records himself licking straw from vending machine
A teenager who recorded himself licking a straw from an iJooz vending machine and allegedly putting it back has been arrested for public nuisance.
Footage of the act posted on the @singaporeincidents.sg Instagram account showed the youth running the straw through his mouth.

Teenager takes straw from iJooz vending machine
The clip, which had the caption “city is not safe”, showed that the teenager had obtained the straw from an iJooz vending machine.
iJooz dispenses freshly squeezed orange juice, and its smart vending machines can be found across Singapore.

It is uncertain where the video was recorded, but @singaporeincidents.sg claimed that it was posted on the teenager’s Instagram account on 12 March, and showed him putting the tainted straw back into the dispenser.
It also alleged that he was from ESSEC Business School.
18-year-old boy arrested: SPF
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) confirmed that a report was lodged over the incident.
An 18-year-old boy has been arrested for public nuisance in relation to the case, it added.
Police investigations are ongoing.
iJooz ‘extremely apologetic & dismayed’
iJooz told Channel NewsAsia (CNA) on 27 March that it had made the police report after becoming aware of the video on 24 March.
The company takes the incident extremely seriously and is “extremely apologetic and dismayed” about it.
It has initiated measures including additional internal checks, inspections, straw replacements and machine sanitation protocols, it added.

Incident didn’t occur on campus, says teenager’s school
A spokesperson for Essec Business School confirmed to Lianhe Zaobao that the teenager was a student there.
The incident did not occur on campus, they said.
The school has launched an internal investigation, they noted, adding that it is committed to guiding students on appropriate behaviour on and off campus and educating them about the standards of conduct that should be followed as members of the school community.
