Firdaus Daud to serve Kembangan from 1 Sept, says Seah Kian Peng
More than a month after the resignation of Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, his former ward will be served by a new face.
From 1 Sept, lawyer Firdaus Daud will take up the position of second adviser to Kembangan grassroots organisations, said Speaker of Parliament Seah Kian Peng in a Facebook post on Saturday (29 Aug).

Firdaus Daud distributed National Day vouchers in Kembangan
Mr Seah, who is an MP for Marine Parade-Braddell Heights GRC, said he looked forward to Mr Firdaus joining “the team”.
He was referring to Mr Goh Pei Ming, Ms Tin Pei Ling, Ms Diana Pang and himself — the four remaining MPs of the GRC of which Kembangan is a part.

In fact, Mr Firdaus has already started work in Kembangan — in a photo Mr Seah posted on Facebook on Thursday (27 Aug), Mr Firdaus was seen distributing National Day vouchers at Kembangan together with the four MPs.

Firdaus Daud to serve Kembangan together with MPs
The resignation of Prof Faishal on 20 July, over inappropriate interactions with a woman, had left Kembangan residents without an MP for the second time in three years.
At the time, Mr Seah said he and the other MPs would look after Kembangan by handling all cases and appeals at Meet-The-People Sessions, as well as continuing ongoing community initiatives.
However, he also said the team would be strengthened as soon as possible, and he is now “glad” that “the time has come”.
Come 1 Sept, Mr Firdaus will serve Kembangan together with the four MPs, who will also serve residents at their respective divisions — Marine Parade, MacPherson, Geylang Serai and Braddell Heights.
Mr Seah told The Straits Times (ST) that he will also play an important role in Malay/Muslim community matters in Kembangan.
Firdaus Daud involved in grassroots work at Punggol
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mr Firdaus is a counsel at law firm ARLC Legal, with experience in commercial disputes, criminal litigation, and technology matters.
The 42-year-old is also a board member of Pro Bono SG, a charity under the Law Society.
He is no stranger to grassroots work, having been involved in Punggol GRC as second grassroots adviser there. Thus, he was frequently seen with Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and other Punggol MPs.

He was reportedly deployed to Punggol after the 2025 General Election, where he was a reserve candidate for the People’s Action Party (PAP).
He is married with two sons, according to photos posted on his Facebook profile.
