Man gets arrested for beating 92-year-old mother after argument over trivial matters
A man in Jiangsu Province, China, has been detained after a video showing him assaulting his 92-year-old mother went viral on Chinese social media.
Chinese media reported that the incident occurred on 10 Nov. In the video, the man is seen walking around a table, holding a phone in one hand while using the other to strike his elderly mother repeatedly in the face, pull her hair, and shake her violently.

The blows appeared extremely forceful, and the frail elderly woman was unable to avoid them, crying out in pain and nearly falling.
In another footage, the man pushed her to the ground and pressed down on her with force as she cried.
Police dispatched after receiving report about assault
Authorities stated that officers were dispatched immediately after receiving a report at 6.15pm on 10 Nov.
Following investigations, police confirmed that the suspect, a 55-year-old man surnamed Yang (surname transliterated), assaulted his 92-year-old mother after a quarrel over trivial matters.
He has since been placed under criminal detention, and the case is now under further investigation.

Police added that the victim was taken to the hospital for examination and treatment, and has since been brought home by other close relatives to be cared for.
Local authorities also visited the family to provide assistance.
Neighbours describe family background
According to a Red Star News report via Seehua, neighbours said they sometimes heard arguments between mother and son.
Another neighbour said the elderly woman had four daughters and one son, with Yang being the youngest — “a 37-year age gap.”
The daughters were all married and occasionally brought food to their mother.
With Yang now detained, neighbours believe the elderly woman has likely been taken in by her daughters.
