SCDF & Police Officer Attend To PIE Accident; Get Hit By Skidding Car At The Same Location

PIE Accident Injured 8 People In Total

Our traffic police officers and SCDF personnel are truly our unsung heroes, often putting their lives at risk to save others.

On Sunday (9 Jun), a paramedic and a traffic police officer were hit by a skidding car as they were attending to an accident along the PIE.

The collisions also injured 6 other motorists.

Injured while attending to a traffic accident

The two officers were at the site attending to a traffic accident where a silver car reportedly lost control on the PIE before the BKE exit.

The car had swerved across several lanes and crashed into a stationary tipper truck on the first lane, before colliding with another vehicle.

As the police officer and paramedic were onsite, another car in black skidded and hit them.

A man on the stretcher, presumably a victim of the previous accident, can be seen struck by the car here.

The accident involved 6 motorists

Apart from the two vehicles, 2 other motorcyclists also skidded at the same location.

According to The Straits Times, the third car – in black – struck them as they were shifting their bikes to avoid obstructing traffic.

In total, 8 individuals were hurt in the accident:

  • 1 traffic police officer
  • 1 paramedic
  • 6 motorists

All 8 have been sent to the hospital, while the driver of the third car has been apprehended for causing grievous hurt to others.

Speedy recovery to all

Many of us know that the jobs of our police officers and SCDF personnel are not easy, and this accident shows how dangerous their jobs can be.

Perhaps this could make us more appreciative of these unsung heroes as they often put themselves in harm’s way while carrying out their duties.

Given how several vehicles skidded at roughly the same spot, we hope the relevant authorities will examine the affected roads and implement measures to prevent future accidents from occurring.

MS News wishes all those injured a speedy recovery.
