Lotte Duty Free Taking Over Changi DFS In Jun 2020
Back in August 2019, DFS announced that they will be pulling out of Changi Airport once their lease expires in June 2020.
Following that announcement, we also learnt that 3 DFS competitors – Lotte Duty Free, Shilla Duty Free, and Heineman Duty Free – were bidding to take over its space in Changi Airport.
Fast-forward 2 months later and Korea’s Lotte Duty Free has officially won the bid, according to Changi Airport Group (CAG).
The Korean chain will be taking over DFS Changi from 9 June 2020.
Wider range of liquor & tobacco
The news of DFS Changi’s impending closure probably sent many into panic mode. If you frequently stock up on duty free alcohol and tobacco there, don’t worry.
CAG promises that this new duty free store will offer “the widest range of liquor products and brands housed within the 18 liquor and tobacco stores”.
Even more options means great news for those who like to buy their booze on a budget.
Lease will be for 6 years
According to CAG, the contract awarded to Lotte Duty Free will last for 6 years. This tenancy covers all 18 liquor and tobacco stores across all terminals in Changi Airport.
Renovation works will also happen in phases so we all can continue having an enjoyable shopping experience at Changi DFS before bidding it farewell.
