SIA Offers All Customers Free Flexible Rebooking For Tickets Issued From 15 Mar – 31 May 2020

The Covid-19 situation has escalated severely over the past week, with many stepping up precautionary measures and entire countries going into lockdown.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has just updated their travel waiver policy for travellers affected by Covid-19.

They took to Facebook to share the news with their customers yesterday (15 Mar).

In light of Singapore’s new travel advisories as well as other countries placing more restrictions on travel, they’ve updated their waiver policy to include free flexible rebooking.

Read on for more details about SIA’s waiver policy update.

Free flexible rebooking for tickets dated 15 Mar – 31 May 2020

Under the new changes, all customers can freely rebook tickets issued between 15 Mar and 31 May 2020.

This new waiver policy is effective immediately.

According to the advisory, customers can now cancel their current flights and retain the value of those flights with SIA. They can then use that retained value to re-book another flight, once they’ve properly confirmed their new travel plans.

According to SIA’s Facebook post and their updated travel waiver, the new travel plans and flight itinerary should be booked and completed by 31 Mar 2021.

This gives customers over a year to rearrange their trips.

A new itinerary may cost more, and customers will have to top up any additional costs they’ve racked up with their new travel plans.

Flight change fees are still waived for tickets issued between 16 – 31 Mar.

Delays in response due to high volume of customer service requests

Customers may change their travel plans on SIA’s website, or through their respective travel agents if they’ve booked through third parties.

SIA advises customers to be patient when calling their service centre and while waiting for their queries to be answered, as they are currently experiencing a high volume of customer requests.

They encourage customers to contact them only if their flight is within 72 hours, so their customer service agents can assist those who need urgent help.

You can contact them via their online form here, or call them at 6223 8888.

Alternatively, you can visit their reservation and ticketing office at ION Orchard, though waiting time may be up to 4 hours.
